Diving into Plugin Settings

General Tab Breakdown

These are the core options we adjusted first:

  1. FAQ Tab Label: Controls the label for the FAQ tab on the product page.
  2. Enable Locations: Toggle FAQ display on shop, cart, and checkout pages.
  3. Tab Priority: Reorder the FAQ tab among other product tabs.
  4. Global FAQs: This needs a working tooltip to explain how it applies.
  5. Customer Questions: Adds an Ask a Question section on product pages.
  6. Dynamic Attributes: Tie FAQs to product attributes for variable products.
  7. Expand or Collapse Labels: Set the labels for expand all and collapse all.
  8. Search Box: Enable an FAQ search bar and choose its position.
  9. FAQ Counter in Product List: Show an FAQ count column in the Products table.
  10. Display Locations: Choose where FAQs render: on single product pages, archive pages, the cart, and checkout. Also choose the editor type for FAQ entries (Gutenberg or Classic).
  11. Before or After FAQ Content: Add custom content around the accordion with a WYSIWYG editor.

Appearance and Advanced Tabs

  • Style: Control width, colors, borders, background, question and answer colors, font sizes, and custom CSS.
  • Schema: Enable structured data and choose distribution type. We kept the default, Description with HTML.
  • Comments: Enable or disable comments on FAQs. If enabled, adjust avatars, sorting, and styles.
  • AI FAQs: Pick a model, set max tokens, and add your API key. We cover this later.
  • Other Options: Display first or last, post behavior (index or no index), RTL, access roles, and multicolumn layout. We need tooltips for post behavior to explain whether it affects search indexing for FAQ posts.

Creating and Managing FAQs

Adding New FAQs

The workflow is simple:

  1. Navigate to the All FAQs section, and then select Add New.
  2. Use the title field for the question.
  3. Utilize the editor to provide the answer.
  4. Assign the FAQ to the relevant products, product categories, and tags as needed. You can also assign it to pages like the shop page.
  5. Publish.

After publishing, the FAQ appeared on the single product page inside an FAQ tab. We saw the accordion, search box, and expand or collapse controls working as expected.

Using Blocks and Shortcodes

In Gutenberg, we looked for an FAQ block and used the plugin’s features on the front end. We also toggled the shop page display from settings and adjusted the location from before main content to after main content to test rendering.

Templates and Layout Presets

In the dashboard, Templates can be previewed. Applying them was not obvious at first. The docs use “layout presets” instead of “templates.”

Template usage by shortcode example:

  • Display all FAQs for a specific product with a specific template: [wdp_faq id=”14″ template=”1″]
  • Change the template by switching the number. We tested 1, 2, and 3 and saw different styles render.

Common issues to watch:

  • Shop, cart, and checkout display can vary with block-based themes.
  • Admin redirects or “coming soon” states can obscure what the shopper sees.
  • Double-check shortcode syntax in Gutenberg when editing, since blocks can sometimes add stray brackets.

Customer Questions Feature

This feature adds an Ask a Question form to product pages. Shoppers can enter a name, email, and a question. We tested it with a sizing question. It worked well and is a strong way to collect real questions that can feed your FAQs.

Managing Questions

Submitted questions appear under Customer Questions in the dashboard. From there, we replied to a question and saved the response. Customers receive an email notification when you respond.

You can also place a question section on any page using a shortcode:

  • Customer questions form: [wdp_faq_questions]

Theme styling will affect output. We use the Twenty Twenty-Five theme on our testing site, and it was obvious that additional styling was needed. It’s common for plugins to need additional styling when websites are using block themes.

Integrating with FAQs

There is no direct “Add to FAQ” button from a customer question. We copied the question, created a new FAQ post, added an answer, assigned it to the product category, and published it. It then appeared in the product FAQ tab. A direct “Convert to FAQ” action would be a great improvement for quicker publishing.

Simple flow for questions:

  1. Shopper submits a question on the product page.
  2. We review it under Customer Questions.
  3. We reply and send an email update.
  4. If it should be public, we create a new FAQ post and assign it to the right products or categories.

AI FAQs Generator

The AI tab lets us generate FAQs for selected products based on keywords. We selected a product, added a keyword, picked English, and clicked Generate.

Tips for Effective Use

  • Use real, product-focused keywords. For a t-shirt, use sizes, colors, material, care, or fit.
  • After generation, import the useful results, edit for brand voice, and assign them to the correct products or categories.

Final Thoughts

Happy WooCommerce FAQs Pro offers a lot of value for store owners and WordPress users. The feature set is broad, the placement options are flexible, and there is thoughtful support for schema, templates, and customer questions.

We had the FAQs working on product pages with search and expand or collapse controls, with very little effort.
